Obligatory Star Trek reaction post (WARNING: angry.)
I am trying to put this up without triggering people’s Tumblr Saviors unnecessarily.
I have a post on my Dreamwidth about the new Star Trek movie. The link above bypasses my cuts and goes to the post itself, which contains those bad things we try to avoid accidentally giving to fans, you know, sp01l3rs; but if you would like to see a high-level overview of the post with cuts in place and decide whether or not to read it, or bits of it, this link here goes to today on the calendar page, which shows it with the cuts unexpanded.
aw man, I got to put it out there that while i LOVED the acting and the cast of star trek: into darkness, I was not really that thrilled with the plot. I know it’s not BC’s fault - he’s an actor, not one of the brodude writers at Bad Robot- but whitewashing one of the greatest POCs in scifi/fantasy was just not okay for me personally. they made an alternate timeline JUST SO THEY COULD BOLDLY BREAK CANON AND GO WHERE NO TREK HAS GONE BEFORE…except they didn’t. They did ‘wrath of khan’ except nothing was lost, nothing was ever on the line.
